Switching accounts in GTM broken

Simon Rumble 1 month ago in Tag Manager updated 4 weeks ago 5

With Da Vinci Tools enabled in Chrome, switching between Google accounts no longer works. Either using the GUI or manually changing the authuser number in the URL (https://tagmanager.google.com/?authuser=0). It fails in both directions with two accounts logged in leaving you stuck in the one you had logged in. Confirmed it's DVT by disabling extension and refreshing, where it works again.

In case it's relevant, one account is a paid GA360 account while the other is a free one.

I revised it again - I'm pretty sure it's fixed now! (for the next release)

Invalid regex error on non-regex field in templates

Simon Rumble 1 month ago in Tag Manager updated by Stéphane Hamel 1 month ago 1

This field isn't a regex field but it gives an error indicating it is. This is inside the Permissions tab for a variable template.

Thanks Simon - I already fixed this for the next release, coming up very shortly. See here: https://support.davinci.tools/communities/1/topics/771-invalid-regex-error-on-non-regex-field

invalid regex error on non-regex field

John McGowan 2 months ago in Tag Manager updated by Stéphane Hamel 1 month ago 2

Hey Stéphane! I'm assuming this is a Da Vinci Tools error and not a GTM error? I see a popup showing a regex error when I've specified for the condition to be 'contains' instead of 'matches RegEx'. See screenshot:

This was fixed easily with the following, but still thought I'd raise it :)

Injector not injecting on sites with GTM already enabled.

James Cottrill 2 months ago in Tag Manager updated 2 months ago 4

I'm currently not able to inject onto any sites with GTM already enabled

It looks like the fix to Julius' bug has created a bug in whilst injecting on sites with GTM already enabled.

Answer

This was really stupid on my part - I did all the tests to make sure it was working when there was no container and didn't re-check the other scenario! :(
Fixed for next release.
There's another annoying issue so I will likely release a hot fix today.

Looks like the "Inject" feature just adds the GTM snippet but does not fire a gtm.js event

Julius Fedorovicius 2 months ago in Tag Manager updated 2 months ago 4

The result: no Pageview event in the Preview and debug mode. This was tested on a website that had no GTM snippet (or dataLayer) added to the source code.

It was a matter of execution context - I had to review my approach slightly and it's even better now.

Issues with Regex Validation in GTM

Henrik Söderlund 2 months ago in Tag Manager updated 2 months ago 7

The regex validation is not working on my end - is this a conflict with other extensions, or something else? See error message below.

Answer

Fixed! It was caused by the closure compiler I use to optimize the code before releasing a new version.

Version 2019.8.13 is awaiting Google's approval and will be deployed shortly.

Delete multiple tags/ triggers/ variables simultaneously in their lists

Dan Grainger 3 months ago in Tag Manager updated by Stéphane Hamel 3 months ago 1

I'm cleaning up several GTM containers and one of the most inefficient uses of time is having to click in to 100s of redundant tags/ triggers/ variables individually to delete them one at a time - it would be great to be able to select multiple from the appropriate lists and simply click "delete" once.

I'm currently looking at a way to add a "hamburger" menu to tags/triggers/variables lists to make it easier to do multiple operations at the same time.

GTM injection injects container on all pages

James Cottrill 4 months ago in Tag Manager updated by Stéphane Hamel 4 months ago 3

When I enter the regex of the page I want to inject the container onto and click enable

(Blanking to protect client anonymity)

The container is injected onto every page:

The container injection persists when I click to disable the container.

GTM direct links not works

Timur 4 months ago in Tag Manager updated by Stéphane Hamel 4 months ago 5

I use direct links to gtm tags/variables mostly in google sheet. When add-on in on, it changes urls in tricky way. Sometimes it redirect me to variable folder, sometimes to previous used tag. If you couldn't replicate bug, I'd record screencast.

GTM: Place selected variable in the field where the cursor is instead of at the end of existing text.

Nick Guebhard 4 months ago in Tag Manager updated by Stéphane Hamel 4 months ago 3

This is the end goal:

{{variable 2}} {{variable 1}}

If you have a variable in a field already, e.g.

{{variable 1}}

and then you want to add a variable into the field before the existing one where your cursor is:

| {{variable 1}}

when you select the variable you want to add, GTM doesn't insert the variable where your cursor is, it places it after your existing variable, e.g.:

{{variable 1}}{{variable 2}}

It annoys the hell out of me!

Ok, I see what you mean now. I'm afraid this isn't something I can fix easily and it's quite a marginal use case, so I will reject this suggestion for now and continue the work on additional features.
